Thunder Closes Mini-Series Tonight At Kansas City

INDEPENDENCE, MO (Oct. 24) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, closes a three-game mini-series tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Kansas City Mavericks at Cable Dahmer Arena. 

This is the third meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Mavericks. All-time, Wichita is 87-63-23 against Kansas City and 40-35-15 on the road against the Mavericks.

On Saturday night, the Mavericks held off a late comeback attempt from the Thunder and won 4-2. 

Kansas City is in a three-way tie for first with Utah and Rapid City. Wichita is tied for sixth with Tulsa and will look to earn its first win of the season this evening. 

After tonight, the Thunder will not face the Mavericks until after Thanksgiving.

Brayden Watts has three assists in his first two games of the season. He has points in three-straight games and points in six of his last seven games dating back to last season. Watts is nearing 100-career assists. He is tied for sixth in the league with 11 shots on net.

Jay Dickman picked up where he left off last season. The veteran forward has assists in back-to-back games and points in his last five dating back to last season. He had a career-high 61 points last year. 

THUNDERBOLTS...Bradley Marek is tied for third with two power play goals in the league, leads all rookies in that department and tied for first with three goals...Dominic Dockery has assists in back-to-back games and tied for seventh in scoring by defensemen...Dillon Boucher is third among rookies with five penalty minutes...Wichita is first in the league on the power play (66.7%)...

KANSAS CITY NOTES – Max Andreev, Ty Ennds and Kyle Jackson each tallied their first pro goals last weekend...Kansas City is 2-0-0 for the first time since 2018-19...Patrick Curry is tied for third with 12 shots on net...Dillon Kelley is tied for first with two wins and fifth in saves (53)...Cade Borchardt is tied for sixth in rookie scoring with four points...
