Wichita, KS (Oct. 11th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced several transactions this afternoon. The team signed forward Dana Tyrell to a standard player contract. Defenseman Justin Hamonic has been dealt to the Worcester Railers for financial considerations. Forward Nate Dicasmirro has been released from his contract.
Tyrell, 28, brings a wealth of experience to the Air Capital. A native of Airdrie, Alberta, the 5-foot-10, 192-pound forward was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (#47, 2nd round). Tyrell broke into the pro ranks in 2009-10 with the Norfolk Admirals, recording 36 points (9g, 27a) in 74 games. He made his NHL debut in 2010-11, appearing in 78 games with the Lightning. Overall, Tyrell has 232 games of AHL experience and 135 games in the NHL.
Opening Night rosters will be announced by the ECHL tomorrow at 1 p.m. CST.
The 26th season of Thunder hockey kicks off on Friday, October 13th against the Indy Fuel.
