Allen, TX (Jan. 13th) - Wichita took a one-goal lead into the third period, but came out on the losing end in a 5-3 defeat against the Allen Americans on Friday night at the Allen Event Center.

Zach O'Brien and Ryan Rupert recorded their first goals since coming to Wichita while Matt DeBlouw tallied his fifth of the season.

After a scoreless first period, Wichita got on the board five minutes into the second. Zach O'Brien scored a power play goal as he took a pass in the slot and buried a slap shot to make it 1-0. Zach Hall tied the game at 12:14 as he carried it through center and lifted a wrist shot past Drew Owsley to the glove side. Ryan Rupert re-gained the lead for Wichita with three minutes to go in the frame. He found a loose puck in front of Jamie Murray and scored another power play tally to make it 2-1.

In the third, Bryan Moore recorded a natural hat trick in a three-minute span. His first came at 3:17 when he tipped home a shot from the point. He scored his second at 5:52 after Chad Costello was stopped by Owsley near the blue paint. His third came at 6:40 as he knocked home a rebound to make it 4-2. DeBlouw cut the lead to one with another power play goal at 14:47. Owsley was pulled with a minute left, but Joel Chouinard found an empty-net and the Americans claimed a 5-3 win.

Wichita set a new season-high with three goals on the power play. Rupert notched his first two-point game with a goal and an assist. Owsley took the loss, stopping 30 of 34 shots. Murray stopped 38 shots to claim his eighth victory of the season.
