All-time, Wichita is 35-24-3 against Missouri and 15-12-3 on the road in the series.
TODAY - Wichita is in the middle portion of a three-in-three tonight, heading to Independence to resume their Independence Cup rivalry with the Missouri Mavericks. The Thunder are coming off a 4-2 loss last night at Quad City while the Mavericks were idle. Missouri leads the division with 13 points, one point ahead of Allen while the Thunder is currently tied for third with Tulsa with eight points. After tonight, the two teams will head to Wichita tomorrow afternoon to close the weekend at 5:05 p.m. Jesse Root (7g, 4a) and Tyler Barnes (4g, 7a) lead the way for the Mavericks. Wichita is led by Peter Sakaris (3g, 4a) and Andy Huff (1g, 5a).
INDEPENDENCE CUP - Wichita and Missouri will get a full helping of each other over the next two weeks. Starting tonight, the Thunder will see the Mavericks five of the next eight games. Once again, the teams are playing for the Independence Cup and currently, the Mavericks lead the season-series with back-to-back wins on October 23rd and 24th.
SAKARIS STREAKING - Peter Sakaris has been a nice addition to the Thunder line-up. He has points in four-straight games, collecting an assist on Mason Baptista's goal last night. He has three goals and four assists over that span.
MARTY - Brandon Martell recorded his third goal of the season that pulled the Thunder even last night with the Mallards. He caught a beautiful feed across the crease and buried it past Brody Hoffman. Martell is tied for the team-lead with three goals and has scored in two of the last three games.
FIRST GOAL - Teams in the ECHL that have scored first have had the upper hand so far to this point in the season. Out of the 112 first goals scored so far, teams are 85-19-7-1 and good for a clip of .795 winning percentage. The Thunder have scored four first goals so far this season.
