WICHITA, Kan. (Jan. 15) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today three separate transactions involving players in the affiliation.
Defenseman Noah Beck was reassigned by the Sharks to the Thunder. Forward Donavan Houle has been loaned to Wichita. Defenseman Jack Bar has been recalled to the Barracuda.
Beck, 24, returns from a two-week stint with the Barracuda, where he played his second AHL game of the season at Bakersfield on Jan. 3. Despite missing the last six Thunder games, the defenseman continues to lead the team in assists (19) and remains third in points (25) behind Kyle Crnkovic (34) and Peter Bates (29).
The Arizona State product provides a much needed addition to the Thunder power play. He has an impressive 13 points on the man advantage (4g, 9a), placing him third among league defensemen.
Houle, 24, re-joins Wichita on a three-game point streak in the ECHL, registering five points (2g, 3a). From the beginning of December through his call up on Jan. 5, the forward accumulated 10 points (4g, 6a), fourth most on the team in that span, and more than doubling his points to 19.
Bar, 23, will appear on an AHL roster for the first time in his professional career. In his rookie season, the Newmarket, Ont., native has been a solid presence on the blue line, leading the team in plus/minus rating (+7) while posting 12 points (2g, 10a).
Prior to signing with San Jose, he spent four years with Harvard, racking up 20 points in four season and serving as the Crimson’s captain during his senior campaign. He was drafted by the Dallas Stars during the 2021 NHL Draft (round 5, #138).
The Thunder continues their six-game homestand on Friday night against Tahoe.
