WICHITA, Kan. (Dec. 6) – Kyle Crnkovic scored twice, Roddy Ross stopped 26 shots and Wichita, rebranded for one night as the Tinmen, skipped past Tulsa on Saturday night, 4-1, at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Noah Beck and Peter Bates each collected two assists while Kyle Jeffers recorded his third of the season. With the win, the Tinmen swept the weekend series against the Oilers and have won three in a row for the first time this year.
After an evenly matched first 20 minutes, the Tinmen opened the scoring in the second. At 14:47, Ryan Finnegan started an odd-man rush. He fed it over to Tian Rask at the left circle. Rask fired a shot off the left leg of Noah Giesbrecht. Jeffers jumped on the rebound and made it 1-0.
The Tinmen nearly made it 2-0 early in the third. Wichita created a turnover in the neutral zone. Bates unloaded a one-timer from the bottom of the right circle that got past Giesbrecht. As the shot was fired, Jay Dickman was shoved into the net, and the goal was disallowed.
The officials gathered and decided to review the play. The call on the ice stood and the game remained 1-0 in favor of the Tinmen.
At 13:36, Crnkovic recorded his first of two to help Wichita take a 2-0 advantage. Jeff Faith and Drew Elliott were sent off, and the Tinmen went on a five-on-three power play. Bates made a great move in the slot and slid it over to Crnkovic. He took the pass off his right skate and beat Giesbrecht for his sixth of the season.
Crnkovic made it 3-0 at 14:58, which was on the back half of the two-man advantage. He scored a similar goal as his first of the contest. Beck fed a pass from the slot to the edge of the right circle and Crnkovic hammered a one-timer into a gaping cage.
Dylan Fitze broke the shutout bid from Ross at 17:36. Jeff Faith blasted a shot from the right point. Fitze redirected the shot, and it got past Ross to make it 3-1.
The Oilers pulled Giesbrecht with two minutes to go, but Kirby Proctor found an empty net to close the scoring.
