Wichita Claims Forward Matt Crasa off Waivers

WICHITA, Kan. (Dec. 12) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that rookie forward Matt Crasa has been claimed off waivers from Norfolk.

Crasa, 24, joins the Thunder after starting the year with the Admirals, collecting two points (1g, 1a) in 13 games. The Long Island, New York native made his professional debut with Norfolk last March, notching points in his three of his first four games and compiling five points (2g, 3a) in 11 outings. Crasa also appeared in six postseason contests, tallying one assist.

Prior to turning pro, Crasa spent four seasons with UMass Lowell, netting 27 goals and 57 points over 128 games. His best season for the River Hawks came in 2021-22 when he paced freshman with 12 goals (9a, 21p). 

Wichita returns home tonight to host the Idaho Steelheads for the start of a three-game series this weekend at INTRUST Bank Arena.
