Defenseman Noah Beck Reassigned to Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 17) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that defenseman Noah Beck has been reassigned from the Barracuda to the Thunder.

Additionally, the Thunder made two separate transactions. Defenseman Ty Gibson has been traded to Iowa for future considerations. Forward Anton Rubtsov has been released from his standard player contract.

Beck, 24, is in his first full season as a pro. A native of Richmond Hills, Ontario, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound blue-liner signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Barracuda last March and made his professional debut against the Abbotsford Canucks. Beck signed a one-year entry level contract with the Sharks this past spring. He was selected in the seventh round (#194 overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the St. Louis Blues.

The smooth-skating defenseman played a five-year collegiate career, finishing this past season at Arizona State University. In 37 games with the Sun Devils, Beck recorded a career-high 28 assists and 33 points, leading ASU defensemen in both categories and placing fifth nationally among blue-liners. He was selected to the All-NCHC Second Team.

Prior to his stint in the desert, Beck played four seasons with Clarkson University, tallying 56 points (15g, 41a) in 124 career contests. As a sophomore and junior, he led all Golden Knights defensemen in points. Beck was named to the 2021-22 ECAC Second All-Star Team and to the 2022-23 ECAC Third All-Star Team. Overall, in five collegiate campaigns, Beck recorded 89 collegiate points (20g, 69p) in 181 games.

Before his time at the collegiate ranks, he spent the 2019-20 year with the United States Hockey League's Fargo Force. Beck accumulated 23 assists (5g, 27p) in 42 games, which led all Force defensemen.
