WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 23) – Wichita began a six-game stretch against longtime rival Tulsa on Friday night, winning in convincing fashion with a 5-1 victory at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Five different players found the net while Samuel Huo, Ethan Scardina, Connor Lockhart and Tristan Sarsland each had two points. Matt Davis was solid in his return to the Air Capital, stopping 28 shots.
Just 3:30 into the game, Huo connected for his first in a Thunder uniform. After collecting a pass from Lockhart in the neutral zone, the 6-foot-5 forward drove to the net and beat Tomas Suchanek with a backhand to make it 1-0.
The Thunder added to the lead at 19:36 when Kirby Proctor snapped a shot past Suchanek on the power play to make it 2-0.
Early in the second, Jordan Biro redirected a shot from Ethan Scardina and recorded his second of the season to make it 3-0.
Robert Kincaid increased the lead to 4-0 at 12:59. He stopped a clearing attempt near the left point and wired a shot past Suchanek for his first of the year.
Tulsa got on the board at 19:38 with a power play marker from Jake Lee. He fired a shot from the left circle through a screen and beat Davis up under the bar to make it 4-1.
Scardina re-gained a four-goal cushion just 41 seconds into the third. Wade Murphy sprung him through the neutral zone. Scardina beat Suchanek with a wrist shot over the right shoulder for his second of the campaign.
Huo and Scardina each tallied a goal and an assist. Lockhart and Sarsland both had two helpers. Michal Stinil added an assist, giving him 300 ECHL points for his career.
Wichita recorded two power play goals for the third-straight game, going 2-for-5. Tulsa went 1-for-4 on the man advantage.
