WEST VALLEY CITY, UT (Dec. 18) - Wichita continues its five-game road trip tonight with another meeting against the Utah Grizzlies at the Maverick Center.
Last night, Utah held off a late Thunder charge and won, 4-2. Logan Fredericks gave the Thunder a 1-0 lead, but the Grizzlies tied it five minutes later as Brian Bowen scored. His goal started a stretch of three-straight for the home team as Utah led 3-1 in the third period. Michal Stinil cut the lead to 3-2 with his first as a pro with three minutes left. Andrew Nielson closed the door with an empty-netter to make it 4-2
With the loss, Wichita has dropped six-straight games and fell into a fifth-place tie with Kansas City. Utah improved to 15-8-1-0 and remains tied with Idaho for first place with 31 points. The Grizzlies have also won four-straight contests and are 6-3-1-0 over their last 10.Â
The Thunder broke their scoreless streak against the Grizzlies after being shutout in the first two meetings of the season. Wichita also recorded its first power play goal in the season-series against Utah, going 1-for-5 last night.Â
Brandon Cutler leads the Grizzlies with 24 points. Mason Mannek is second with 18 points. Wichita is led by Jay Dickman, who has 22 points. Peter Crinella and Brayden Watts are second with 19 points.Â
