Wichita Clinches First-Ever ECHL Playoff Berth

Loveland, CO (April 6th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, clinched their first-ever playoff berth on Friday night since joining the ECHL.

Due to a Tulsa loss in a shootout, Wichita will head to the postseason for the first time since the 2012-13 season when the Thunder were a member of the Central Hockey League. Wichita owns the tiebreaker against the Oilers as the Thunder has more regulation wins minus shootout wins (33) than Tulsa (31).

Wichita's first round opponent will be determined after tomorrow's games conclude. If Wichita wins and Allen loses, the Thunder will be the three seed and would face Idaho in the first round. If Allen wins, Wichita would be the fourth seed and face Colorado. If Allen gains a point in an overtime or shootout loss, Wichita would be the fourth seed in that scenario as well.

The schedule and tickets for the postseason will be announced at a later date.

The Thunder closes out the regular season tomorrow night against Colorado at 8:05 p.m. CST.
