LAST WEEK - Wichita played its first two road games of the season this past week and came away with victories. On Wednesday night, the Thunder hopped out to a 3-0 lead behind goals from Lane Bauer, Mark MacMillan and Kyle Platzer. Tulsa got one back in the third, but Joel Rumpel was too strong and held on for a 3-1 win. Wichita headed up to Independence, Missouri on Saturday night to face the Kansas City Mavericks. After falling behind 1-0, the Thunder rattled off four-unanswered goals and got a stellar goaltending performance from Shane Starrett en route to a 4-1 win.

TANDEM - Joel Rumpel and Shane Starrett have been outstanding so far through the first six games of the season. The two netminders have played every other game so far and that trend has benefited the Thunder. Rumpel got the win on Wednesday night, stopping 37 of 38 shots he faced from the Oilers. He is currently second in goals-against average (1.67) and save percentage (.950) and tied for fourth in wins (3). Starrett stopped 40 of 41 shots on Saturday night at Kansas City and was named the number one star. He is currently fifth in goals-against (1.95), fourth in save percentage (.942) and also tied for fourth in wins with three. Wichita is currently first in the league in goals against per game at 1.83.

EASY MAC - Mark MacMillan recorded the game-winner on Wednesday night and followed that up with a pair of third period goals on Saturday that helped give the Thunder some breathing room against the Mavericks. His two-goal output was the first multi-goal game of the season for the University of North Dakota product.

OIL SPILL - Kyle Platzer is having a great start to the season. The Edmonton Oilers product has points in all six games for Wichita. He recorded his first two-assist outing on Saturday night, giving him four multi-point games on the season. He leads the team in points with 11 (5g, 6a). A native of Waterloo, Ontario, Platzer is second in the league in points (11), tied for third in goals (5) and tied for first in plus/minus (+8).

QUICK START - Wichita has started games on the right note so far this season. The Thunder have outscored their opponents 11-2 in the first and leads the league in first-period goals. Five of those 11 came during an onslaught against the Rapid City Rush on October 22nd.

SPECIAL - The Thunder penalty kill has found its groove over the last three games. Wichita has killed off 15 straight power plays by the opposition. The Thunder killed off eight power plays on Wednesday night and followed that up with a three-for-three performance on Saturday night against Kansas City. Wichita is currently 11th overall on the kill at 85.7%.

MILESTONE - Head Coach Malcolm Cameron claimed his 344th win of his ECHL career on Saturday night, moving him into fifth place all-time in league history. He moves ahead of Larry Courville, who entered the season alone in fifth place with 343.
