Thunder Loses First Game of 2018 to Wings

Wichita, KS (Jan. 6th) - Wichita continued its three-game homestand on Saturday night, falling to Kalamazoo by the final of 6-4 at INTRUST Bank Arena. The loss ends the Thunder's win streak at three.

Travis Brown netted three points while Ralph Cuddemi, Lane Bauer and Evan Polei finished with two points.

Both teams scored in the first period. Brown beat Michael Garteig at 6:13 to make it 1-0. The Wings answered six minutes later when Justin Taylor got near the net and put one past Joel Rumpel.

In the second, the two teams exchanged goals as J.T. Stenglein, Scott Heneger and Taylor found the net. Travis Ewanyk and Lane Bauer recorded the Wichita goals during a five-goal second frame.

Brendan Bradley gave the Wings a two-goal lead 3:22 into the third. Evan Polei tallied his sixth of the year at 8:43 and cut the lead to 5-4. Jimmy Mullen closed the scoring at 12:48 with a wrap-around goal on the man advantage to make it 6-4.

Brown had a goal and two assists. Kevin Dufour added an assist to extend his point-streak to six games (3g, 4a). Cuddemi had a pair of helpers.

Wichita went 1-for-3 on the power play and scored its first power play goal in the last four games. Kalamazoo was 3-for-5 on the man advantage.

The Thunder finishes the weekend tomorrow afternoon against Kalamazoo at 4:05 p.m.
