Thunder Announces Training Camp Roster

Wichita, KS (Sept. 30th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today their training camp roster, which includes the return of defenseman Martin Nemcik and the addition of forward Triston Grant to a tryout agreement.

Nemcik, 24, appeared in 48 games last season for the Thunder. A native of Povazska Bystrica, Slovakia, the 6-foot-4, 194-pound defenseman collected 11 points (4g, 7a) to go along with 67 penalty minutes in his first season in the ECHL.

Grant, 32, is a former ninth round draft pick (#286) of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound forward out of Neepawa, Manitoba brings a wealth of experience to camp. In 640 American Hockey League games, he has amassed 153 points (73g, 80a) and 1,707 penalty minutes. He has also played in 11 National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Flyers and Nashville Predators.

The training camp roster is comprised of 22 players, which includes 15 forwards, five defensemen and two goaltenders. Eight players have been invited to camp on a tryout basis and 14 are currently on ECHL contracts. A full list of the roster for camp is listed below:

Earlier today, the team announced that Jack Rodewald, Vincent Arsenseau, Alexis Loiseau, Alexis Vanier, and Louick Marcotte have been invited to Binghamton Senators camp and James Melindy will attend camp with the Chicago Wolves.

The Thunder kicks off their 25th Anniversary season on Saturday, October 15th against the Tulsa Oilers. Season tickets are on sale now. Place a $25 deposit for up to four seats and pay it off in 14 payments. Contact a Thunder representative at the office today.
