Thunder Announces Details For NHL 17 Tournament

Wichita, KS (Oct. 7th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today the details for the NHL 17 Tournament that will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th at the Rhatigan Student Center Ballroom on the campus of Wichita State University.

ECHL teams are hosting the first-ever league-wide NHL 17 tournament. The Thunder will be partnering with Wichita eSports as the local host. The tournament entry fee is $25 and comes with a ticket to the Unconference, as well as a ticket to the Thunder game the same day against the Utah Grizzlies.

Participants in the tournament will be allowed to use any ECHL team. The winner will move on to compete against other ECHL Tournament winners in a bracket-style online gameplay on a Playstation 4. All games are required to be broadcasted on Twitch so league officials can verify the proper settings and results. If a contestant can't meet the requirements to play online, the Thunder will help provide it.

The prizes for NHL 17 tournament winner will be a glass suite for a night, one voucher book of 50 undated tickets and one of a kind champion t-shirt.

Winners of the bracket stage move on to a three-team round robin. The top two teams from the round robin will get a VIP trip to the 2017 ECHL All Star Classic in Glens Falls, New York, to compete in a best-of-three series to determine an overall NHL 17 champion.
