Wichita, KS (Nov. 9th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of defenseman Kyle Chatham ahead of tonight's contest against Utah.
Chatham, 25, began the season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. A native of Belleville, Illinois, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound blueliner got a taste of pro hockey last season with the Reading Royals, appearing in three games.
Prior to turning pro, Chatham played a four-year career at Lake Superior State University (NCAA Di). He appeared in 146 games, collecting 24 points (5g, 19a) over that span. He was also named to the WCHA All-Academic Team in 2015-16.
Wichita and Utah close out a three-game set tonight after meeting twice since Sunday. The Grizzlies took Wednesday morning's contest by the final of 5-4. Jake Marchment led the way with two goals and the game-winner with less than two minutes to go in the game. With the win, Utah moves back into first place with 15 points and are 3-1-2 on the road this season. Wichita sits in sixth place with nine points and is 2-2-1-0 at home so far this season.
Caleb Herbert leads the Grizzlies with 18 points (11g, 7a) in 10 games while Cole Ully has 13 points (3g, 10a). Dyson Stevenson (4g, 2a) and Pierre-Cedric Labrie (3g, 3a) each have six points to lead the way for the Thunder.
