Rodewald Tallies Two in 5-3 Loss to Utah

Wichita, KS (Nov. 5th) - Jack Rodewald scored a pair of goals on Saturday night, but it wasn't enough as the Utah Grizzlies walked out of INTRUST Bank Arena with a 5-3 win.

Gerrad Grant scored his second goal of the season and five others added assists in the losing effort.

Wichita got the scoring started four minutes into the first on the power play as Rodewald tipped home a shot from Macoy Erkamps to make it 1-0. Utah's Cole Martin scored just a few minutes later during a goal-mouth scramble and beat Drew Owsley. The Grizzlies took a 2-1 lead on the power play as Eric Higby recorded his third of the season on the man advantage.

Utah extended their lead to 3-1 as Ralph Cuddemi received a headman pass and scored on a breakaway just five minutes into the second. Rodewald recorded his second of the game as he stole the puck in the left circle and beat Ryan Faragher under the arm to make it 3-2. The Grizzlies extended their lead once again after Travis Howe found a bouncing puck and slid it underneath Owlsey. With just seconds remaining in the frame, Gerrard Grant received a pass from Nelson and beat Faragher to cut the lead to 4-3 heading into the third.

The Grizzlies added one more in the final period when Kenton Helgesen tipped home a point-shot from Tim Daly and closed the scoring at 5-3 in favor of the visitors.

Rodewald finished the weekend with two points in back-to-back games and leads the team with five goals. Alexis Loiseau recorded an assist to extend his point-streak to four games (3g, 4a). Grant has goals in back-to-back games. Louick Marcotte extended his point-streak to four as well with an assist (2g, 4a).

Owsley suffers his first loss of the season, stopping 38 of 43 shots. Faragher takes the win, stopping 21 of 24 shots on net.

Wichita went 1-for-2 on the power play. Utah was 2-for-4 on the man advantage and stopped the Thunder's penalty killing streak at 18-straight kills to begin the season.
