Miller Receives Call Up to Ontario

Wichita, KS (October 29th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, announced today that forward Kenton Miller has been called up to the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Miller, 24, is the first Thunder player this season to be heading to the AHL. The Redvers, Saskatchewan native received a call last year to the Manchester Monarchs, appearing in four games and scoring one goal. During his rookie season, he appeared in six games with the Chicago Wolves in 2012-13. Miller has two goals in four games this year, both of which came during the team's opening contest at Tulsa.

Miller will join the Reign during their weekend set against San Antonio at home as well as their road contest at San Jose on Sunday afternoon.

The Thunder returns home for a pair of games against the Colorado Eagles, starting on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Friday is Pink at the Rink, presented by RA Ruud and Son and Machinist Union Local Lodge 839. Saturday afternoon is the Halloween Extravaganza. Starting 1:05 p.m., bring the kids out for a costume contest and trick-or-treating before the game.

The ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in four states and has grown into a coast-to-coast league with 28 teams in 20 states and one Canadian province for its 27th season in 2014-15. There have been 541 players who have started their career in the ECHL have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 29 who made their NHL debuts in the 2013-14 season. The ECHL had affiliations with 26 of the 30 NHL teams in 2013-14, marking the 17th consecutive season that the league had affiliations with at least 20 teams in the NHL.
