Mallards Grab Season Finale in Wichita

Wichita, KS (March 28th) - Chris Francis netted three points and C.J. Motte made 30 saves to stifle the Thunder offense, helping Quad City to a 4-1 win on Tuesday night at INTRUST Bank Arena. The Mallards win the season-series, taking three of the four games in regulation.

Ryan Tesink recorded his sixth goal of the season in the losing effort.

Sam Warning continued to sparkle for the visitors as he gave Quad City a 1-0 lead in the first. He took a pass near the top of the left circle and fired a backhand past Scott Greenham for a 1-0 lead.

Wichita tied the game early in the second as Tesink took a shot off his right foot near the crease and put it past Motte. The referee made the decision that it wasn't a distinct kicking motion and the goal stood. The Mallards answered quickly as Francis stole the puck near the Thunder line and rifled a wrist shot past Greenham to make it 2-1. Grant Arnold increased the lead to 3-1 as he took it across the goal mouth and put it past Greenham at 11:15.

The Thunder outshot the Mallards 12-8 in the third period, but Motte made some tough saves down the stretch. Greenham was lifted for the extra attacker with two minutes left. Mike Wilson tacked on the exclamation point at 18:55 as he scored into an empty-net and made it 4-1.

Wichita reached 30 shots for the 13-straight game. Jamie Doornbosch and Ryan Rupert added assists on the Tesink goal. Greenham suffers the loss, stopping 27 of 30 shots. Motte claimed his 20th win of the season, stopping 30 of 31 shots he faced.

Wichita went 0-for-2 on the power play. Quad City didn't receive a chance on the man advantage.

The Thunder will head to Tulsa on Friday night to start a three-in-three with the game starting at 7:05 p.m.
