Wichita, KS (Dec. 19th) - Garrett Ladd scored twice for Tulsa, including the game-winner in the second and the Thunder couldn't come back in a 4-2 loss on Tuesday night at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Dyson Stevenson recorded his sixth of the year and Jeremy Beaudry scored for the third-straight game in the losing effort.
Stevenson got things rolling for the Thunder. He went hard to the net and put home a rebound to make it 1-0. Tulsa scored the next two as Charlie Sampair tied things up with a redirection of a shot from Steven Kaunisto. Garrett Ladd found a rebound that came off the end boards and he beat Shane Starrett at 15:06 to make it 2-1.
In the second, Beaudry hammered a slapshot from the deep slot on the power play at 8:40 and tied the game at two. Ladd re-gained the lead for Tulsa at 12:15 as he got to a rebound to the left of Starrett and recorded his fifth of the year.
Tulsa bottled up the Thunder down the stretch, only allowing six shots on Jake Hildebrand in the third period. Kale Kessy iced it with an empty-netter at 19:38 to make it 4-2.
Beaudry potted his sixth power play tally of the season and is now tied in second in power play goals scored by a defenseman. Travis Brown added two assists and now has two helpers in back-to-back games. Starrett suffers his second loss of the year, stopping 36 of 39 shots. Hildebrand claims the win, stopping 24 of 26 shots he faced.
Wichita went 1-for-2 on the power play. Tulsa was 0-for-1 on the man advantage.
The Thunder remains at home for a pair of games against Kansas City starting on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
