Wichita, KS (Feb. 16th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, had an outstanding weekend highlighted by a crowd on Friday night of 10,490 fans in attendance, ranking as the third-highest attended game in franchise history.

The Thunder honored Go Red month, partnering with the American Heart Association, Kwik Shop and All Things BBQ to help raise awareness for this great cause. Go Red Night drew 13,168 back in 2012, making the evening number two and three in all-time attendance.

On Sunday, 7,005 fans came out for Credit Union of America Night and saw an entertaining contest that ended in a shootout. Over a two-game span, the team averaged 8,747 fans that came to INTRUST Bank Arena. Wichita has a few days off before heading to Allen on Wednesday night starting at 7:05 p.m. The Thunder will return home this upcoming Friday and Saturday for a pair of home games. Friday Night is NASCAR Night, presented by T-Mobile, Arby's and Kansas Speedway. Saturday Night is the 4th Annual Cops vs. Fire game that will get underway at 5:15 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. Saturday is also an Evening with the ARC Night, helping the ARC of Sedgwick County.

The ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in four states and has grown into a coast-to-coast league with 28 teams in 20 states and one Canadian province for its 27th season in 2014-15. There have been 541 players who have started their career in the ECHL have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 29 who made their NHL debuts in the 2013-14 season. The ECHL had affiliations with 26 of the 30 NHL teams in 2013-14, marking the 17th consecutive season that the league had affiliations with at least 20 teams in the NHL.
