Driedger Makes First NHL Start With Florida

WICHITA, Kan. (Dec. 1) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, are excited to announce that former Thunder netminder Chris Driedger made his first NHL start last night with the NHL's Florida Panthers. Driedger becomes the fourth player in franchise history to reach the NHL. He earned a 3-0 shutout over the Nashville Predators, stopping 27 shots and was named the #2 star. The 25-year-old goaltender from Winnipeg, Manitoba appeared in two games for the Thunder during the 2016-17 season. Wichita finishes the holiday week with another match-up against the Kansas City Mavericks. Today's game is the conclusion of Friday's postponed contest due to poor ice conditions.
