Wichita Offense Kept Silent on Thursday at Tulsa

TULSA, OK (Oct. 29) – Wichita hit the road for the first time this season on Wednesday night, losing to longtime rival, Tulsa, by a 6-0 final at the BOK Center.

Jake Sibell kept the Thunder office at bay, stopping all 32 shots he faced.

The Oilers scored twice in the first period. Jackson Niedermayer fired a seeing-eye shot at 8:23 from the left point that got past Thunder netminder Matt Davis to make it 1-0.

At 19:06, former Thunder forward Nick Nardella got behind the defense and popped a shot over Davis. The puck just barely cleared over the goal line to make it 2-0.

Early in the second, Tyler Poulsen made it 3-0. He tried to center a pass into the slot, but it banked off of a skate and got past Davis for his first of the season.

Lukas Jirousek made it 4-0 at 6:51. He found a loose puck off the left wall and fired it past Davis from the faceoff dot.

Jay Dickman connected at 14:13 to make it 5-0, scoring his first against his former team.

The Oilers added another in the third as Kyle Kukkonen closed the scoring at 17:59. He cleaned up a rebound after Zack Taylor had his shot stopped by Davis. The goal was reviewed for potential interference, but it counted to make it 6-0.

Wichita was shutout for the first time this season. The Thunder were outshot 15-4 in the first, but outshot Tulsa 28-15 in the final 40 minutes.

The Thunder were 0-for-4 on the power play. The Oilers went 0-for-2 on the man advantage.
