Wichita Hosts Longtime Rival Tulsa for the First Time This Season

WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 23) – Wichita remains at home tonight and starts a six-game stretch against longtime rival Tulsa at INTRUST Bank Arena. Opening Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m.

This is the first meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Oilers. All-time, Wichita is 177-166-40 vs. Tulsa and 100-74-21 at home against the Oilers. Tonight is the 195th meeting between the two teams in the Air Capital and 383rd overall.  The two teams play six games in a row from now until November 8.

Last weekend, the Thunder came from behind in both wins against the Knight Monsters. The Oilers played once during opening weekend, knocking off Allen at home, 5-4.

Michal Stinil netted three points last weekend. The veteran forward needs one more to reach 300 points for his ECHL career.

Anthony Collins is nearing a big milestone in his ECHL career. He’s played in 665 games, which puts him 11th in ECHL history in that category.

The Thunder power play found their groove over the weekend, scoring two goals in each of the first two games. Wichita is 4-for-11 on the man advantage, good for 36.4%. The Thunder are second on home ice in the league and fourth overall in that category.

Tonight is the return of former Thunder Head Coach Bruce Ramsay, who is now an assistant in Tulsa, and former Thunder forward Jay Dickman. Ramsay spent seven years in the Air Capital but didn't have his contract renewed at the end of last season. Dickman played six years for the Thunder before signing with the Oilers in the offseason.

Five players have two points apiece for the Oilers. Connor Lockhart and Michal Stinil lead the Thunder with three points. Jordan Biro and Tristan Sarsland each have two.
