WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 31) – Former Thunder forward Jay Dickman scored just 42 seconds into overtime to help Tulsa get past Wichita on Halloween afternoon, winning 4-3 at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Michal Stinil and Connor Lockhart led the way for the Thunder, collecting two points. Matt Davis suffered the loss, stopping 29 shots.
Just 2:34 into the first, Mike McKee broke the ice with a shot off a faceoff that popped over Davis and made it 1-0 for the visitors.
Stinil tied the game at 13:46 and stopped Jake Sibell's shutout streak. He jumped on a rebound near the top of the crease and found the net for his second of the year.
Early in the second, Lockhart gave the Thunder their first lead of the week. With Tyler Poulsen and Jay Dickman in the box, Lockhart fired a shot from the deep slot and made it 2-1 at 1:28.
At 16:25, Spencer Blackwell connected for his first of the year. Cam Mitchell made a terrific move in the high slot, worked around a defender and fed a pass to a wide-open Blackwell.
Poulsen started the Tulsa rally just three minutes into the third. He beat Davis with a backhand from the left hash to the glove side for his second of the campaign.
Oliver Tarr tied the contest at 13:02 with a one-handed shot near the edge of the right circle that slipped through Davis.
Mack Oliphant was called for a double minor for high sticking at 16:43 and that carried into overtime.
Dickman scored the game-winner 42 seconds into the extra session. He caught a centering feed from Sasha Mutala near the top of the crease and slipped a forehand through Davis to end the game.
Wichita had been held off the scoresheet for 133 minutes by Sibell prior to Stinil's first-period marker.
Lockhart tallied his third multi-point game of the season with a goal and an assist. In just his second game of the year, Blackwell tallied his first goal of the season. Sarsland added his fourth helper of the year.
Wichita went 1-for-5 on the power play and has scored on the man advantage in each home game this season. Tulsa was 1-for-4 on the power play.
