Thunder Shut Down on Friday by Oilers

TULSA, OK (Oct. 30) – Jake Sibell stopped 26 shots, shutting down the Thunder offense for the second game in a row to earn a 3-0 win for Tulsa against Wichita on Friday night at the BOK Center.

Sibell stretched his shutout streak to 120 minutes, winning back-to-back games this week against the Thunder.

Coulson Pitre gave the home team a 1-0 lead with a penalty shot goal at 9:18. He had a step on Mack Oliphant, who appeared to get back into a good defensive position. The official ruled that Pitre had enough space to warrant the call and he connected for his second of the season.

Tulsa extended the lead with a questionable goal at 11:43 of the third. Connor Hasley came out of the crease to play a loose puck in the left circle. Kyle Kukkonen tripped him up trying to get to it first. Hasley couldn't get back into the blue paint and Zachary Murray scored to make it 2-0.

Mike McKee iced the game with an empty netter at 19:39 to make it 3-0.

Wichita held Tulsa to 13 shots over the final 40 minutes and outshot the Oilers for the second game in a row.

Both teams were 0-for-4 on the man advantage.
