WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 20) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that netminder Matt Davis has been loaned to Wichita. Additionally, forward Wade Murphy was released from his PTO with the Barracuda and returned to Wichita.

Davis, 25, appeared in two games this season for the Barracuda. The Calgary, Alberta native went 1-1-0 with a 3.90 goals-against average and .869 save percentage.

Last year, Davis was a workhorse for the Thunder before being recalled in late March. The 6-foot-1, 194-pound goaltender played 1,407 minutes, going 8-10-3-2 with a 2.56 goals-against average and .928 save percentage. Davis had a decorated collegiate career at the University of Denver, winning two national titles.

Murphy, 32, returns to Wichita for the first time since the start of AHL training camp. The Victoria, British Columbia native played in one game during his time with the Barracuda during the regular season. He scored the deciding goal during San Jose's preseason shootout win on September 25 against Bakersfield.

The veteran forward is entering his 11th season as a pro. Murphy appeared in his 400th game on November 15 against Tahoe. He turned pro in 2017-18, splitting time with Worcester and Greenville. Murphy has made stops in Maine, Kalamazoo and Idaho in North America while also playing overseas in Norway, Slovenia and Slovakia. Last year, he played for Greensboro and Greenville.
