WICHITA, Kan. (Sept. 4) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of forward Ethan Scardina for the 2026-27 season.
"We're thrilled to add a player of Ethan’s caliber to our program," commented Head Coach Travis Clayton. "Having served as a team captain during his senior year of college, he possesses natural leadership qualities and outstanding character. He plays with high energy, has great hockey IQ, and the high-compete level we demand from our athletes. We're excited to welcome him to the team and look forward to his impact."
Scardina, 25, begins his second season as a pro. A native of South Surrey, British Columbia, the 6-foot-1, 192-pound forward played his rookie campaign last year in Atlanta, tallying nine points (3g, 6a) in 65 games.
Prior to turning pro, he played five seasons at Bowling Green State University, serving as captain during his senior year. He collected 58 points (30g, 28a) in 143 career games for the Falcons. He was known for his physical, gritty style and leadership abilities during his time at Bowling Green.
Scardina spent his junior career in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Vernon Vipers, Cowichan Valley Capitals and Nanaimo Clippers. He was named team captain in his final junior season with the Clippers and finished with 129 points (62g, 67a) in 153 career junior games.
