WICHITA, Kan. (Sept. 3) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that forward Cam Mitchell has re-signed for the 2026-27 season.
"You know exactly what Cameron brings to the ice every single night and I'm glad he is coming back," stated Head Coach Travis Clayton. "He plays a relentless, 200-foot game and competes on every shift, driven by his skating and exceptional hockey IQ. Having him with us for a full season is a huge positive for our group, and we’re excited to see his impact over a complete year."
Mitchell, 25, joined the Thunder this past March. A native of Stony Plain, Alberta, the 5-foot-9, 181-pound forward netted four assists in 17 games. He recorded his first pro point on March 24 against Kansas City.
Prior to turning pro, Mitchell spent four seasons at Omaha where he tallied 28 points (10g, 18a) in 94 games for the Mavericks. He was also named an alternate captain during his senior campaign.
Mitchell played five seasons of junior hockey split between the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Spruce Grove Saints and United States Hockey League's Omaha Lancers. He finished with 57 points (18g, 39a) in 111 career games for the Lancers before committing to Omaha. Mitchell is a former college teammate of current Thunder blueliner Kirby Proctor.
