Bar Loaned to Wichita; Gormley Heads to AHL San Jose

WICHITA, Kan. (Mar. 2) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today two separate transactions involving defenseman on AHL agreements.

The Barracuda have loaned defenseman Jack Bar to Wichita and recalled defenseman John Gormley.

Bar, 23, has 12 points (2g, 10a) through 32 ECHL games in his rookie campaign. After his recall to the Bay Aea in mid-January, the former Harvard University captain played five games with the Barracuda, registering four shots. Despite missing over a month, he remains second on the Thunder in plus-minus with a +7 rating.

Prior to turning pro, Bar was named captain during his senior campaign at Harvard and finished with 20 points (2g, 18a) in 117 career games for the Crimson. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound blueliner was selected in the fifth round by the Dallas Stars during the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Wichita continues its 12-game road swing next Wednesday night with a visit to the Hoosier State to face Indy.
