WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 14) – Michal Stinil notched his fourth-career hat trick, Matt Davis stopped 28 shots, and Wichita evened the weekend series against Idaho on Saturday night, 4-1, at INTRUST Bank Arena on Valentine's Day.
Jay Dickman and Nolan Kneen each had two points. Four others found the scoresheet in the winning effort.
After a tight, defensive first period, Wichita took a stranglehold in the second. Stinil made it 1-0 at 14:41 with a wrist shot off the rush for his 11th of the year.
At 16:26, Dickman made it 2-0 when he redirected a shot from Kirby Proctor near the right post.
Early in the third, Stinil fired a seeing-eye wrist shot through a screen that beat Jake Barczewski for his second of the contest and a 3-0 cushion.
Idaho snapped the shutout bid attempt for Davis with 1:45 left in the contest. Spencer Blackwell was assessed an unsportsmanlike during a post-whistle scrum and gave the Steelheads a power play. Francesco Arcuri beat him from the right circle for his 18th of the season.
The Steelheads lifted Barczewski with a minute remaining, but Stinil found an empty net at 19:24 to make it 4-1.
