Gormley Heads Back to San Jose

WICHITA, Kan. (Feb. 14) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that defenseman John Gormley has been recalled to San Jose. 

Gormley, 25, was sent back to Wichita on February 3. The Bronx, New York native has been a physical presence for the Thunder. He recorded his third fighting major of the season last night in a 5-2 loss vs. Idaho. Gormley has four points (2g, 2a) in 24 games this season. 

A native of Bronx, New York, Gormley finished his collegiate career last season at Long Island University. He tallied 15 points (4g, 11a) in 128 games and led the NCAA with 133 hits. Gormley was appointed as the second team captain in program history. 

Prior to college, he played two years in the North American Hockey League with the Topeka Pilots and Bismarck Bobcats. Gormley skated in 104-career NAHL games, tallying 19 points (6g, 13a) to go along with 130 penalty minutes.

Wichita remains at home tonight at 6:05 p.m. to host Idaho.
