ALLEN, TX (Jan. 9) – David Tendeck stopped 42 shots to help Allen blank Wichita on Friday night, 4-0, at Credit Union of Texas Event Center.
Allen leaped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Bradyen Watts curled near the right wall, fed a pass to the top of the right circle and Sam Sedley fired a shot that beat Roddy Ross at 12:25 for his third of the year.
At 17:40, Colton Hargrove made it 2-0 on the power play. Wichita failed to clear the puck through the slot. Sedley dished it over to the right circle and Hargrove blasted a one-timer past Ross for his seventh marker.
In the second, Ty Prefontaine made it 3-0 at 9:17. He held the zone at the left point and unloaded a shot from the line. The puck deflected off a body in front of the net and rolled past Ross.
The Thunder outshot the Americans by a wide margin in the final 20 minutes, 19-9. Tendeck was outstanding, stopping 19 shots and robbed Jay Dickman near the end of the contest.
Wichita pulled Ross after getting a power play with less than four minutes to go in the game. Colby McAuley tacked on an empty netter at 18:31 for his 10th of the campaign to close the scoring.
The Thunder suffered their third shutout of the season despite firing 42 shots on goal. Wichita tied a season-high for shots in a period with 19.
