WICHITA, Kan. (Jan. 5) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that forwards Donavan Houle and Lucas Vanroboys have been recalled by the Barracuda.
Houle, 26, has come to life over the last month. Since November 29, the Montreal, Quebec native has more than doubled his point total with 11 (5g, 6a) over his last nine games. Houle also recorded two game-winning goals in that span, including a short-handed tally against Tahoe on December 17.
Vanroboys, 26, returns to the Bay Area leading the Thunder in penalty minutes (46) and sitting eighth in both goals (5) and points (12) in 20 games. The second-year pro has continually provided the physical spark to the Wichita offense and is currently one of only seven skaters with a plus rating (+1). In 76 career AHL games, the Thamesville, Ontario native has accumulated 169 penalty minutes and 17 points (12g, 5a).
The Thunder will play their next four against heated rival, Allen. Wichita will travel down to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center for games Wednesday and Friday before returning home this Saturday and Sunday.
