Two Forwards Reassigned to the Thunder

WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 23) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today that forwards Lucas Vanroboys and Donavan Houle have been reassigned to the Thunder from the Barracuda. 

Additionally, forward Michal Stinil has been added to the active roster. Defenseman Nico Somerville has been placed on reserve while defenseman Tyler Jette was placed on IR. Forward Danny Weight has been released from his standard player contract. 

Vanroboys, 26, is in his second full season as a pro. The Thamesville, Ontario native appeared in 69 games last year for the Barracuda. He finished with 16 points (11g, 5a) and racked up 151 penalty minutes. 

Prior to turning pro, Vanroboys played a five-year collegiate career. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward spent his first four seasons at Bentley University before transferring to UMass for his final year in 2023-24. He finished with 52 points (14g, 38a) in 140 games at the Division I level. Vanroboys also earned AHA All-American Scholar Athlete honors three seaons in a row. 

Houle, 25, is also in his second full season at the pro ranks. A native of Montreal, Quebec, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward netted 24 points (10g, 14a) in 64 games during his rookie year with the Barracuda. He finished fourth in games played among San Jose skaters last year. 

Before his time in San Jose, Houle played four seasons at the University of Maine. In 120 career games for the Black Bears, he finished with 64 points (28g, 36a).
