Thunder Signs Rookie Forward Anton Rubtsov

WICHITA, Kan. (Sept. 4) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of rookie forward Anton Rubtsov for the 2025-26 season. 

Rubtsov, 26, turns pro after spending the last four seasons at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. The 5-foot-11, 181-pound forward from St. Petersburg, Russia is a former teammate of T.J. Lloyd. 

He amassed 67 points (25g, 42a) in 100 career games for the Nanooks. Rubtsov recorded 28 points (8g, 20a) in 30 games during his junior year. 

Prior to his time at college, he spent three seasons with the North American Hockey League's Lone Star Brahmas and Shreveport Mudbugs. Rubtsov collected 47 points (17g, 30a) in 95 games during his junior career. He helped win the Robertson Cup with the Brahmas in 2016-17.
