Series Shifts to Nevada Tonight for Game 3

STATELINE, NV (April 23) – The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks, AHL's San Jose Barracuda and powered by Toyota, looks to regroup tonight at 9 p.m. CST in Game 3 of its first-round matchup against Tahoe at Tahoe Blue Event Center.

Wichita is playing in its first postseason since 2020-21. All-time, the Thunder are 69-68 in playoff action and 29-42 on the road.

The series shifts to Stateline, Nevada. The Knight Monsters won the first two games on the road in the series and reclaimed home-ice advantage. 

Tonight is the first postseason home game for the Knight Monsters in franchise history. Wichita took all three games in the final week of the regular season in its only visit to Tahoe Blue Event Center. 

Tahoe rolled to an 8-1 win on Easter Sunday. Dillon Boucher scored the lone Thunder goal. The Knight Monsters broke open a 3-1 game early in the third, scoring four times in less than five minutes for the 8-1 win. 

The Knight Monsters are winning the special teams battle through the first two games in the series. Tahoe is 5-for-10 on the power play. good for a 50% clip. Wichita is 0-for-5 on the man advantage.

Wichita has been solid all season long in the second period this year, but that hasn’t come to fruition so far in its series against Tahoe. The Knight Monsters have outscored the Thunder 7-1 in the second. Tahoe has scored five goals in a period twice so far through two games.  

The Thunder were shorthanded on Sunday due to a suspension assessed to the Joe Carroll from a boarding penalty in Game 1. He is expected to return to the lineup tonight.
