Season Ends in 3-2 Loss on Friday Night in Game 4

STATELINE, NV (April 25) – Patrick Newell scored with less than three minutes to go in regulation to help Tahoe win Game 4, 3-2, at Tahoe Blue Event Center.

With the loss, the Knight Monsters win the series, 4-0 and will move onto the Mountain Division Finals.

Spencer Blackwell and Joe Carroll provided the offense for the Thunder. Trevor Gorsuch was outstanding in the losing effort, stopping 36 shots.

Adrien Bisson opened the scoring at 12:39 of the first. He fired a shot from the left point that got through traffic and beat Gorsuch.

In the second, Blackwell tied the game at 15:33. He outmuscled a Knight Monsters forward near the blue line, came in on a three-on-one break and fired a shot through Jesper Vikman's five-hole.

At 18:02, Carroll battled at the right post and slipped a shot past Vikman to make it 2-1.

Bear Hughes tied the game at 9:07 of the third. Wichita had just killed off a penalty, but Hughes found a loose puck during a net-mouth scramble, and he found the net.

Newell scored the game-winner at 17:16. Nate Kallen made a great play below the goal line, sending a no-look pass to him at the edge of the right circle and Newell scored to make it 3-2.

Wichita called its timeout and pulled Gorsuch with 1:30 left in regulation. Tahoe held on and earned the victory.

Carroll finished the series with goals in each of the three games he appeared in for the Thunder. Blackwell recorded goals in back-to-back games. Nolan Kneen and Jay Dickman also collected assists.

Wichita was 0-for-2 on the power play. Tahoe went 0-for-6 on the man advantage.
