PLAYOFF RACE – The playoff picture got murkier this past week. Allen punched its ticket on Sunday afternoon, leaving two spots open between Kansas City, Utah, Wichita and Rapid City. The Thunder have the least amount of games left this week with only two against Allen. The Americans play Kansas City on Wednesday while Tulsa heads to Utah. Rapid City hosts Idaho on Wednesday to begin a three-game set against the Steelheads.
RED HOT – Peter Bates has been red hot for the Thunder. He has six points (4g, 2a) in his last three games. Bates has goals in six of his last seven outings. The rookie forward tallied his first overtime game-winner of his career last Thursday against Rapid City.
MEECH – Michal Stinil has points in four-straight games (3g, 3a). He is tied for eighth in points with 78, ninth in assists and third in power play assists with 24.
CAREER HIGHS – Jay Dickman has points in five of his last six games. He tied his career high with 58 points. Dickman needs five assists to equal that mark from a year ago when he had 38 helpers.
BUCKEYE – Quinn Preston has four assists in his last three games. He is fifth for rookies with 59 points and second for rookies with 13 power play goals.
BIG MAC – Cole MacDonald is second in scoring by a defenseman with 52, first for defenseman with seven power play goals, first for defenseman in power play assists with 26 and first for defenseman with 33 power play points.
FIRSTS – Ben Allison tallied his first goal as a pro on Thursday night against Rapid City. Allison gave the Thunder a 3-2 lead right after the Rush had tied it early in the third. Allison is the son of former Thunder forward and NHLer Scott Allison, who scored one of the biggest goals in Thunder history.
HISTORY – Wichita has five players with 20 or more goals for the fifth time in team history and for the first time since 2012-13. The Thunder also have five players with 50 or more points and two with 60 or more.
THUNDERBOLTS...Brayden Watts has assists in three-straight and points in seven of his last eight games...Mark Liwiski is third in the league in penalty minutes (192)...Wichita is fourth in the league in average penalty minutes per game (17.11)...Wichita is 21-8-3 when scoring first...Wichita is second at home on the power play (26.6%)...Wichita is second in the league on the penalty kill (84.3%)...
