Tulsa Takes Exhibition Contest, 5-2

Wichita, KS (Oct. 7th) - In its only preseason tilt of the weekend, the Wichita Thunder dropped a 5-2 contest to the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday night at the Wichita Ice Center.

The Thunder jumped out to an early lead as Etienne Boutet found the top corner at 2:28 to make it 1-0. Shaquille Merasty increased the lead to 2-0 at 17:03 after receiving a nice pass in the slot. The Oilers tied the game with two unanswered markers from Evan Richardson and Dylan Hubbs late in the first.

Tulsa added two more in the second as Vladimir Nikiforov scored back-to-back goals to give the Oilers the lead for good.

Justin Selman tacked on a late empty-netter in the third and the Oilers earned a 5-2 victory.

The 26th season of Thunder hockey kicks off on Friday, October 13th against the Indy Fuel.
