Wichita, KS (Oct. 17th) - Wichita opened its 26th season in the Air Capital this past weekend with a pair of wins. Look back at the week that was in this edition of Thunder Weekly.

LAST WEEK - Wichita started the season at home with a pair of games against the Indy Fuel this past weekend. On Friday night, the Thunder scored three times in a five-minute span in the second period and held on late for a 4-3 win. Matt DeBlouw had a pair of goals to lead the way for Wichita. On Saturday, the two teams went back-and-forth before the Thunder won the contest in overtime by the final of 4-3 with a goal from Mark MacMillan.

DOP, YOU KNOW ME - Wichita's first line of Matt DeBlouw, Zach O'Brien and Kyle Platzer had a great start to the season this past weekend. They combined for six points (3g, 3a) on Friday and a +8 rating. On Saturday, DeBlouw and Platzer each had an assist. DeBlouw and Platzer lead the team with three points apiece and are a combined +7.

SECONDS - Through two games, Wichita has four goals in the second period. Three of those came on Friday night. The Thunder also has at least 13 shots in the second period through the first two contests.

SWEEP - Wichita won its first two games of the season for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign. The Thunder knocked off Tulsa by the final of 3-2 at the BOK Center on October 16th and then came back home to defeat the Quad City Mallards in a shootout by the final of 5-4.

FIRSTS - Shane Starrett, Lane Bauer and Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin made their pro debuts on Saturday night and all impressed. Bauer and Crevier-Morin found the back of the net for their first pro goals. Starrett stopped 31 of 34 shots he faced en route to his first pro victory.

EWOK - Travis Ewanyk has goals in back-to-back games through Opening Weekend. He scored on Friday night and then added a breakaway goal on Saturday. The St. Albert, Alberta native has 37 goals as a pro, netting a career-high 20 last season between Idaho and Fort Wayne.

THUNDERBOLTS... Kyle Platzer is tied for seventh in plus/minus (+4)...Shane Starrett is ninth in the league in GAA (2.79)...Wichita is tied for seventh in goals for per game (4.00)...Wichita is 2-0-0-0 in one-goal games...
