Thunder Stopped at Tulsa in 3-1 Loss

Tulsa, OK (Nov. 12th) - Nick Trecapelli scored his second goal of the season in a losing effort on Saturday night as Wichita fell to Tulsa by the final score of 3-1 at the BOK Center. The only goal of the first period was scored by Trecapelli at 6:42. Wichita went on the power play after Tulsa was called for a delay of game. Trecapelli fired a one-timer from the left circle over the shoulder of Jamie Phillips.

Tulsa evened up the game at 8:19 of the second as Axel Blomqvist came into the zone up the left wing side and fired a shot past Drew Owsley. Both teams had chances to take the lead with breakaway opportunities, but were unsuccessful. Shawn Bates came out of the penalty box and was stopped by Owsley with a glove save. Matt DeBlouw had a shorthanded break denied on the other end and the game headed into the third locked at one.

In the third, the Oilers scored twice to grab a 3-1 lead. Adam Pleskach went for a wrap-around attempt that was stopped at the right post, but Tyson Wilson poked home the rebound and gave Tulsa their first lead at 12:15. Emerson Clark gave the Oilers a two-goal cushion at 16:43 as he skated along the goal line and lifted a backhand up over Owsley for his sixth of the year. Wichita pulled Owsley with just under two minutes left, but couldn't get another past Phillips as the horn sounded.

Trecapelli has goals in back-to-back games. Alexis Loiseau's point-streak ends at five games, recording 10 points over that span (5g, 5a). Owlsey suffers the loss, stopping 25 of 28 shots. Phillips earns his 11th win of the year, stopping 19 of 20 shots he faced.

Wichita went 1-for-4 on the power play and remained perfect against the Oilers, killing off all four chances and are now 12-for-12 against Tulsa's power play unit.

The Thunder finishes their three-in-three tomorrow afternoon with a meeting against the Fort Wayne Komets at 4:05 p.m.
