Thunder Sign Second-Year Forward Marcotte

Wichita, KS (July 19th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced this afternoon the team has come to terms with forward Louick Marcotte (LOU-ick MAR-cot) for the 2016-17 season.

"Louick is a young, gifted offensive player that I am glad to have coming here," said Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "He put up big numbers during a prolific junior career and with a season of pro under his belt, we expect him to be a big part of our offense this season."

Marcotte, 22, enters his second professional season after appearing in 57 games last year for the Adirondack Thunder, where he posted 16 goals and 29 points. A native of Longueuil, Quebec, the 6-foot-1, 201-pound winger was the first player ever to sign with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League (AHL), which was a two-way AHL-ECHL agreement.

"I spoke to Coach Cameron and felt that at this point in my career, Wichita was the perfect fit," commented Marcotte. "I'm really looking forward to getting things started in Wichita."

Prior to turning pro, Marcotte had a stellar junior career in the QMJHL with Prince Edward, Val-d'or Foreurs and Gatineau. He registered 255 points (119g, 136a) in 277 career games with his best season coming in 2013-14 when he was one of only five players that racked up 100 or more points (42g, 58a). Marcotte was third in QMJHL postseason scoring that season, tallying 37 points (12g, 25a) in 24 games en route to winning the league title.

The Thunder kicks off their 25th Anniversary season on Saturday, October 15th against the Tulsa Oilers. Season tickets are on sale now. Put down your $50 deposit per seat and pay it off all summer long. Contact a Thunder representative at the office today.
