Moline, IL (March 26th) - Playing in their second overtime game in less than 24 hours, Wichita fell on Sunday afternoon to Quad City by the final of 2-1 at iWireless Center.
Jeremy Beaudry tallied his first pro goal in the losing effort for the Thunder.
The first period was fairly even with both teams getting some quality scoring chances. Alex Petan gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead with a power play goal at the 16-minute mark. He fired a one-timer from the slot that got past Scott Greenham for his 14th of the season.
Beaudry tied the game with a power play goal at 16:22. After several one-timers from the blue line, he finally got one past Adam Vay and tied the game at one. Wichita finished the second with 19 shots on net.
Vay and Greenham made some tough saves in the third and the game headed into extra time. Sam Warning scored the game-winner at 2:42 of overtime as he carried up the right wing, got to the net and beat Greenham with a wrist shot for the 2-1 victory.
Wichita extended its streak of putting up 30 or more shots to 12 games in a row. The Thunder have fired 40 or more shots in four of the last six contests. David Friedmann and Jamie Doornbosch collected assists on Beaudry's first goal in a Thunder uniform.
Greenham suffered his third overtime loss, stopping 29 of 31 shots. Vay grabs his 19th win of the season, stopping 41 of 42 shots he faced.
Wichita went 1-for-6 on the power play. Quad City was 1-for-5 on the man advantage.
The Thunder will finish their season-series against the Mallards on Tuesday night at home starting at 7:05 p.m.
