Independence, MO (Feb. 7th) - Matt Finn scored late in regulation and recorded the game-winner in overtime with less than a second on the clock to help Missouri knock off Wichita by the final of 2-1.
Louick Marcotte scored the lone Thunder goal while Matt DeBlouw and Jamie Doornbosch picked up assists.
After a scoreless first, Marcotte potted his eighth of the season just 33 seconds into the second. He knocked a loose puck away from a defender near the Missouri net and it went back through Eamon McAdam to make it 1-0.
Late in the third, the Mavericks pulled their goaltender and called a timeout with just under two minutes to go. Missouri won the ensuing face-off, got the puck back to the point and Finn fired a shot through traffic past Scott Greenham to tie the game.
In overtime, both teams had some great chances. Wichita was credited with four shots in the extra period while Missouri had one. Finn ended it after finding a loose puck that was blocked by a Thunder defenseman and put it past Greenham for the winner.
Wichita and Missouri played past regulation for the second game in a row and the 17th time in their all-time series. Marcotte has goals in back-to-back games. Doornbosch has four assists in his last two games. Greenham suffers the overtime loss, stopping 28 of 30 shots. McAdam grabs the win, stopping 33 of 34 shots he faced.
Wichita went 0-for-2 on the power play. Missouri was 0-for-3 on the man advantage.
