Thunder Closes Weekend with 4-1 Loss vs. Allen

Wichita, KS (Dec. 18th) - Jamie Doornbosch scored for the third game in a row, but it came in a losing effort as Allen knocked off Wichita by the final of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at INTRUST Bank Arena.

Greger Hanson started the scoring early in the second period with a one-timer from the top of the left circle and made it 1-0. Wichita outshot the Americans 14-7 in the period, but Jamie Murray was up to the task.

In the third, Hanson added his second of the game as a pass from the right circle hit his foot and got past Chris Driedger to make it 2-0. Allen added to their lead at 9:43 when Hanson found Chad Costello and he potted his 13th of the season and a 3-0 lead. Jamie Doornbosch gave Wichita some life at 12:51, recording his third of the season. He stepped into the play and banged home a rebound during a netmouth scramble to make it 3-1. Bryan Moore tacked on an empty-netter with under two minutes to go and the Americans skated away with a 4-1 win.

Doornbosch has a three-game goal scoring streak and four points in five games (3g, 1a). Arseneau and Leveille recorded assists in the losing effort. Driedger suffered the loss, stopping 25 of 28 shots. Murray grabs the win, stopping 42 of 43 shots he faced.

Wichita went 0-for-4 on the power play. Allen was 2-for-2 on the man advantage. The Thunder will close out the pre-Christmas schedule with a match-up against the Missouri Mavericks on Friday, December 23rd at 7:05 p.m.
