Thunder Closes Road Trip Tonight in KC

Wichita, KS (Nov. 2nd) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, closes a three-game road trip tonight in Independence, Missouri against the Kansas City Mavericks.

The Thunder are coming off a 2-1 overtime loss last Saturday night to Tulsa while the Mavericks knocked off the Indy Fuel by a final of 7-2. Tonight is the first of six meetings in the Independence Cup Series between the two teams in the month of November. Both teams come into tonight's game with identical records and tied in points in the Mountain Division Standings. Wichita claimed the Independence Cup last season after losing the two previous years to the Mavericks. The Thunder have played just three games over the last two weeks. That will change as the calendar flips. Wichita plays five games in the next 10 days and 12 games over the next 23 days in November. Jared VanWormer leads the Mavericks with eight points (2g, 6a) while Rocco Carzo has seven (4g, 3a). Dyson Stevenson leads the Thunder with five points (4g, 1a) while PC Labrie (2g, 1a) and Colin Larkin (3a) each have three points. Wichita returns home on Sunday, November 4th to host the Utah Grizzles at 4:05 p.m. Come watch the Air Force vs. Marines game at 2 p.m. and stay for Military Appreciation Night.
