Thunder Closes Regular Season With Pair in Colorado

Loveland, CO (April 6th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, closes the regular season this weekend with a pair of games against the Colorado Eagles.

Tonight's meeting is the fifth of year against the Eagles and the second visit to the Budweiser Events Center. All-time, Wichita is 23-40-5 against Colorado and 6-25-2 on the road in the series. This weekend will be the final time the two teams will ever meet in the regular season as Colorado will move to the American Hockey League next year. The potential for a playoff meeting is still in play with Wichita looking to secure the third or fourth seed in the Mountain Division.

The Thunder are coming off a 2-1 win on Tuesday night against Allen while the Eagles defeated the Utah Grizzles on Wednesday night, 5-2. With its win, Colorado has wrapped up the first seed in the Mountain Division and looks to defend its Kelly Cup title.

Wichita helped its cause on Tuesday in the team's effort to lock up its first-ever playoff berth since joining the ECHL. The Thunder moved into third place with 76 points in the Mountain Division. Allen has 76 points as well, but Wichita owns the tie breaker with two games remaining. Tulsa lost twice this week, putting the Oilers three points back. All three teams have two games left in the season.

Ryan Olsen leads the Eagles with seven points (2g, 5a) against the Thunder. Drayson Bowman has four points (1g, 3a) in the season-series. Ralph Cuddemi leads the Thunder with four goals in five games against the Eagles.
