Wichita is 1-6-0-0 vs. Allen
HEAD TO HEAD - This is the eighth meeting of the season between the Thunder and the Americans. All-time, Wichita is 19-40-7 against Allen and 9-22-2 on the road in the series.
TODAY - Wichita heads on the road this evening to kick off the second half of the season at Allen. The Thunder won against Missouri by the final of 7-5 last Saturday night. The Americans took on the Mavericks this past Sunday as well as Monday afternoon on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Allen won Sunday afternoon in overtime by the final of 4-3, but lost in OT on Monday by the final of 5-4. Wichita and Allen have three meetings this weekend. In fact, Wichita will have faced Allen four out of the last five games, which includes last Friday night's loss at the Allen Event Center. Chad Costello leads the way for Allen with 15 points (3g, 12a) against the Thunder. Vincent Arseneau leads the way with four points (1g, 3a) against Allen.
TWIN KILLING - Ryan Rupert faced his twin brother, Matt, last week. It was the first time the two brothers had played against each other in a professional hockey game. Ryan broke out this past Friday and Saturday, recording six points (3g, 3a). He had a goal and an assist on Friday night in Allen and the followed that up with two goals and two helpers on Saturday night.
HEATING UP - Matt DeBlouw has been red hot over the last seven games. He had four points over the weekend (1g, 3a) and has points in five out of his last seven games. The rookie forward from Michigan State University is second on the team in scoring with 16 points.
SIX - Zach O'Brien has made a quick impact since signing with the Thunder. In just four games, he has six points (2g, 4a) and has points in three of the four games he has appeared in.
SEASON-HIGH - Wichita scored seven goals on Saturday night, which is a season-high and just the second time this year that the team has potted six or more at home.
NEXT ON THE LIST - Head Coach Malcolm Cameron is closing in on another milestone. He sits at 330 wins in the ECHL and needs three more victories to pass Frank Anzalone for sixth place all-time. Saturday's win was also his 400th all-time win, which includes his professional and junior totals.
YOU AGAIN? - Wichita and Allen have played each other seven times prior to tonight's game with the first meeting coming on December 9th. After this weekend is over, the two franchises will have faced each other 10 times in 45 days. Wichita has won just once against the Americans this season with the only victory coming in overtime on December 10th.
