Thunder Adds Rookie Blueliner

Wichita, KS (Dec. 10th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of defenseman Brandon Carlson to a standard player contract.

Carlson, 24, turned pro earlier this season after finishing his career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. He appeared in 120 career games with the Chargers, collecting 20 points (9g, 11a). A native of Huntington Beach, California, the 6-foot-2, 205-pounder signed with the Indy Fuel at the end of November. He appeared in two games before being released last week.

He played four seasons in the United States Hockey League from 2009-2012, compiling 39 points (11g, 28a) and 342 penalty minutes in 192 contests split between the Dubuque Fighting Saints, Lincoln Stars, Fargo Force and Des Moines Buccaneers.

During his final season with Dubuque in 2012-13, he racked up 102 penalty minutes to go with 13 points (4g, 9a) and helped the Fighting Saints win the Clark Cup. In 2010-11, he joined the North American Hockey League's Fairbanks Ice Dogs for the final 16 games and helped them claim the Robertson Cup.

The Thunder remains at home tomorrow night with another meeting against the Americans at 7:05 p.m.
